Chapter Chaplain Report:

Bishop Flanagan told us that he was very glad to be back at St. Brigid’s Parish, it had been his last parish that he served prior to becoming Bishop and he Thanked God for his visit and this Chapter meeting be held at St. Brigid. He stated that we should focus on tomorrow, thanking God not for one day but for every day that we are alive. We should thank God for the gift of Faith, for the gift of Family, and for the gift of Friends.  He mentioned that at St. Brigid there is a saying that is posted that says” There are no strangers only friends that we have not met.” There was a priest who I knew that taught many years at a Catholic college, this priest had very little experience in sports especially football but he coached it. He prayed asking God to lead and guide him in this endeavor. He had some star players quit the team because of his philosophy that there are no Stars only Team. Some of these star players would swallow their pride and return to the team. They all began to realize that it was a team that played not a person. The priest had his team play in the play-off for over ten years winning at least three championships. We need to thank God for our team as Knights. We need to give thanks for our brothers knights. We can give thanks in special ways, one is through the Eucharist and the other is through our Mother Mary. Thank Mary for how she has watched over you and me. In the Eucharist we give thanks for the special sacrament that Jesus gave us. All of us are enriched by it, that it brings us to life everlasting that is possible through Christ. This sacrament is the one sacrament that is meant to be taken daily and daily is why we should give thanks to God for everything he has given. The Eucharist is the sacrament that has bonded us and for the well being that all of us have in Christ and in each other and I thank God for the blessings that each one of you has been to me. I wish you a happy thanksgiving.
