Minutes. Minutes of the October meeting were approved. Chapter Chaplain Bishop Tom Flanagan. I want to remind everyone of our KOC annual retreat will be September 22, 23, 24, 2006. This next one will be the 20th retreat for the knights. He mentioned that he has seen miracles and much good come from this retreat. He also mention that it is so important for the councils to remember the sick but also to remember the dead. He also mentioned that he went to visit a friend at the new Northeast Heart Hospital and while he was traveling looking for the building he was stopped by the security guard who asked what or where he was attempting to go to. after the Bishop told where he was going the guard said "you are no longer lost" and that is the ministry that all Knights should be conducting. As we come to Thanksgiving let us give thanks for our health, for our blessings for our life. President’s report - Chapter President Mike Nishimuta He has moved into a new home and the old address and phone number are no longer valid. New address: 22 Blue Thorn Tr, SA TX 78256, home phone 698-9525. He reminds all the councils that the busy years is coming and the chapter will be requesting help, including financial support. In February our Religious Appreciation dinner, in April and May our auction party and golf tournament, and the State convention in May (ad for convention booklet and hospitality room). Thanks for the great support at the St Vincent de Paul Fundraiser. The Fourth Degree had an excellent presentation of the colors. KC Appreciation night at the Spurs vs. Phoenix Suns game, Nov 19. Treasurer’s report (Wayne Pipes):
General Agent: He mentioned that he has hired five new agents in the last six months and he has been working them during this time. He said that he was pleasantly surprise that he saw many knights volunteering with the hurricane victims. He mentioned that the knights has never given so much as it has for these tragedies and it is all due to the knights generous giving and due to the insurance in force. He wished all of well and safety during the holiday season. Correspondence - San Antonio Right to Life President James Delaney send a letter thanking knights for our involvement in the past. The Right to Life rally will be January 22, 2005 from 2-3 pm in the afternoon at Milan Park and stem cell research will be discussed at the gathering in January. They are requesting count on the number of chairs needed for the fourth degree knights. Chapter Committees: 1. Golf Tournament. The chairman for the next tournament will be Rusty League, and James Boland will be assisting as treasurer. The next planning meeting will be Dec 5 at the library of Holy Spirit School, 7 pm. 2. Habitat for Humanity. Sam Szalwinski See the webpage of the house. The landscaping day had 68 young people and although only 25 people are needed for work on the house the excess were needed on the other Habitat homes. Sam also thanked Carl Bernal's son who supplied 22 pizzas for all these young workers. Sam presented the Habitat award to Bishop Flanagan. 3. Coordinator of Religious Activities. Rudy Escamilla. Religious Appreciation Dinner will be at 4140- Feb 26, 2006 at Council 4140 hall. Ray Neumann was asked to be the chairman of this event Rudy will be the co-chair and Ernie will be the liquor chairman. The Marian woman support and Rudy presented a list of items needed to include to build an interior wall so they can build a chapel. Again the chapter will be asking for items or donation of money for these needs. Rudy reported that there will be a function at Assumption Seminary at 2 pm to celebrate the 90th anniversary of St. John which is now Assumption Seminary. The GK of Pope John Paul II Council, James Flynn will be ordained in December and Ray Neumann requested that something be planned for that wonderful event. 4. Trustees. No report. Diocesan Deputy Report - Angel Perez and Bill Roegelein.
Also charity pin were for sale to help the seminary council to meet their charity goal. All knights were requested to support the sale of the pins. State Directors and Committee Reports: Education and Training: Ken Martinez. He reminded all that there will be a diocesan conference and to bring all of those knight who may be new officer such as GK or DGK to the January 21 conference. Star Council: Dean Murphy. Absent. Council Growth: Jerry Janecka. The State Deputy thanked to San Antonio for all of their support in recruiting. To meet our goals we need six councils to get the pastor permission to form a roundtable, and complete the form 2929. All Councils Active: Mike Urrutia. Mike reported that our recruiting drive is not doing too well. He asked that all home councils begin to place more importance on recruiting new members. As of November 181 new members have been recruited. Church Liturgy: Joe Lopez. He reported about some of the program that fall in this area. He requested information on Project Moses, ACTS retreats, and corporate communions. He asked the DD to ask which council have participated and to report this to him. Awards/Reports & Forms Chairman: Ken Boone. Assembly 1102 received an outstanding award from Supreme top Fred Garcia. The next exemplification will be at St Pius on April 29 and Ken asked us to help him meet his goal of 150 new Sir Knights. Pro life rally in January is for all Knights. All of those who are in charge of the council planning please provide advance notice when the fourth degree is needed so it can be added to the calendar early. Membership Retention Committee: Chuck Green. Chuck also reported that we must retain our membership. The sliver rose mass will be in Laredo before it passes on to Mexico. Special Olympics. Don Smallwood. Absent. Round Table: Bob Stegge. Jerry Janecka reported. State Soccer Chairman: Carl Bernal reported on the soccer tournament. The San Antonio Archdiocese walked away with 7 of the 8 first places. He thanked Reno and Ernest for their help. Mike invited any council chairman to report at the January meeting on how they set it up and share ideas on how to run a soccer challenge. Fourth Degree. Ken Boone. Old Business. None. The award will be made at the January meeting.New Business. Guest Speakers: DD Rich Moken reports that Padre Pio will put up one billboard for the "Keep Christ in Christmas." George Terrell thanked all of the brother knights from Councils under Joe Cortinas, District 39, for providing both breakfast and lunch for the Habitat build when his district was building. Council
4140 will hold a 50th anniversary major degree Sunday November 20, 2006
at the Council Hall, 6909 Camp Bullis Road. Jesse Tovar GK reported that Prince of Peace will be having their dance with Ram Herrera this weekend. Host District Deputy Mike Morrison welcomed all the knights and introduced all the kitchen staff of Council 11596, St. Brigid. Mike Morrison also presented Bishop Flanagan a certificate commemorating a Major Degree held in his honor. The Next meeting will be Jan 18, Council 4140. The sick and in distress were remembered.
