Minutes of the Archdiocese of San Antonio Chapter, Knights of Columbus
May 15, 2007 - Council 4315, Our Lady of Fatima
Prior to the start of the meeting the meeting was led in a rosary by GK of Council 4315 Our Lady of Fatima.
Guest Speaker: Diane Travis, Director of Catholic Radio in San Antonio spoke and invited all of the Knights to support the Banquet to raise $3.5 million to “Raise the Tower” on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 11:30 am at AT&T Community Centre at San Fernando. The cost is $2,500 for a table of ten or $1,500 for a table of six or $75 for a single ticket. Woody the radio personality spoke about being Catholic and how many Catholic do not know about their religion.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chapter President Rudy Escamilla at 7:30 pm
Opening Prayer: Deacon Tom Kelly
Pledge of Allegiance: Led by Rudy Escamilla.
Warden’s Report: Given by the Council Warden. There were 85 members present.
Recognition of Guests and VIPs.
First Time Attendees were recognized.
The host DD Jesse Aguilar Jr. and GK Victor Quesnot of council #4315 were introduced.
Minutes. Minutes of the April meeting were approved.
Chapter Chaplain Bishop Tom Flanagan. Bishop Flanagan was at a confirmation
President’s report - Chapter President Rudy Escamilla requested a council to step forward and volunteer to host the December meeting.

The beginning balance was $ 501.15 on March 31, 2007.

A motion to approve the Treasurer's report was made and seconded. The chapter voted to approve the treasurer’s report.
General Agent: Richard Gaona. Spoke about a soccer ball program in Iraq that is being run by the knights that are serving in order to help the children in Iraq to help adjust to Americans in the country. He also requested to that each council watch their back door on exiting knights from the council. He also requested that councils who are supporting seminarians to pay for their first year of insurance so that this council can received Star Council. He requested that all of us to look all of our insurance programs to include Long term care program. Members requested that another Long Term Care seminar be made and that this meeting be an open meeting with the wives invited.

Chapter Committees:
1. Golf Tournament. Rusty League reported that it was a very successful golf tournament. He reported that he had received four invitation to consider their courses for the tournament..

3. Coordinator of Religious Activities. Wayne Pipes
4. Couple's Retreat. No Report
5. State Convention Hospitality. It was reported that once again San Antonio had the best hospitality room at the State convention. DD Richard Moken thanked Chris Rodriguez and his wife, and Chuck Munoz for their help.
6. Veterans Administration Guadalupe Province Representative for the VA Volunteer Services – Henry Gonzalez and Wayne Pipes assistant reported about the VA car show on Memorial Day. Asking for all Knights to attend.
7. Seminarian Support – Angel Perez, reported that one new seminarian has received assistance and two more request to offer assistance has been made tonight. It is expected that next fall class will go up from 83 to 87 seminarians. He is working to obtain the list of seminarians who are not supported. New seminarians will arrived around August 20th.
8. Knights at the Missions – This fun night at the Missions is July 22nd and July 13th is the last day to purchase tickets at a discount.

Chuck Green reported the slate for next year President Rudy Escamilla, Vice President Diego Peña, Secretary Louis Benavides, Treasurer Chuck Green, warden Roy Ball.
Roy Ball reported what the by-law procedure on the election.
Diocesan Deputy Report -
Jim Wade is out of town. Bill Roegelein spoke about the shortfall needed to make the charity goal, it looks like we will hit 98% unless more councils step up to volunteer additional monies.
Fourth Degree.
Mike Morrison stated the next will on the 23th of June at Holy Family in New Braunfel.
State Directors and Committee Reports:
Council Growth: Ken Boone
State College: Lance Warren. Five councils throughout the state including Texas A&M, Baylor University. Up and coming councils are scheduled at SMU and Texas Tech.

Fr. Michael J McGivney Guild: Mike Urrutia reported that we are closed to reaching 5000 members of the guild in this area.
Church Liturgy: Joe Lopez.
Guest Speakers:
Dean Murphy reported about the lack of participation in raising funds for retired priest. Please if the Council can send people to this fund raiser our sponsor a priest which is $45 per priest or $500 per table Friday, June 1 at 6 pm.
Council 9681, Keeping Christ in Christmas by Wilson Petefish. Car magnet at a cost of $250 recommended selling for $3 to $5 each as a fund raiser.
The Next meeting will be June 20, Council 7770, St James.
The sick and in distress were remembered.
